My first experience with a particular group I recently joined was terrible. I submitted one image, fought to high heaven to educate the "staff" during the accept/decline process, only to have them disregard the information i was giving them and continue to decline the image based on their ill-informed assumption. It was ridiculous. Instead of coming to me to ask whether my portrait was shot in natural light (the object of the group), or visit my gallery to learn that I ONLY shoot outdoors, they simply assumed it was indoors and declined it. My guess is, they assumed it was indoors because they couldn't replicate it if they tried. Any amount of actual photographic knowledge would have indicated it was shot outdoors - there was no way to replicate that light with anything other than the sun.

I informed them of such after it was declined the first time, and they STILL declined the image when I submitted it again, claiming that it wasn't shot outdoors. Really? I think as the photographer, I would know whether it was or was not shot outdoors and the fact that you continue to claim otherwise, is, in fact, calling me a liar. Do you treat all of your members in such a disrespectful manner? If so, the type of encounter that *I* had with you will be one of many from your members and your group will probably go under just as so many others have. Good luck with that :)

So, in case you want to avoid the hassle of dealing with this group  or would simply like to be aware that you may receive similar treatment from this group, I'll share it's name. NaturalPortraitLove And if you're already a member of this group or do not heed my warning, I simply hope you DON'T have to deal with similar issues and wish you luck too :)

I've noticed one or two groups set up categories and then complain bitterly to their members : "Quite a number of people are placing their submissions in the wrong folders. These will be declined. " etc etc. etc.
Hell if they're going to create folders marked "Elephants"; "Landscapes " and "Waterscapes and I submit a photo which combines elephants, landscape and waterscape in equal proportions without a definite emphasis because real life is like that .... and they reject it from one or all of the folders. ....then more fool them. Perhaps they would be more suited to having a market stall selling cans of definite articles like peas, beans and onions, though not sure they would be able to handle a can marked "Mixed veg."
